[FACT-CHECK] TikTok video falsely claims Senator Robin Padilla topped presidential survey

CLAIM: Senator Robin Padilla tops Pulse Asia’s poll for 2028 Presidential Election

RATING: FALSE

A TikTok video featuring manipulated news footage falsely implied that Senator Robin Padilla led in a presidential preference survey conducted by Pulse Asia. 

The video posted by user @_ztrc on TikTok featured manipulated news footage from TV Patrol’s news segment that aired on April 3, 2024. In the manipulated video, Senator Robin Padilla topped the presidential preference survey gaining 35% of the nationwide votes.

However, the actual results of Pulse Asia’s March 2024 nationwide pre-election poll showed the actual outcome of the presidential preference survey. As per the official data, Senator Robin Padilla secured a mere 2% of the votes, placing him sixth on the overall list. 

Senator Raffy Tulfo and Vice President Sara Duterte were the ones leading the pre-election poll, with Tulfo leading at 35% and Duterte following closely with 34% of the nationwide votes.

The video, which falsely claimed that Senator Robin Padilla is highly favored as a presidential candidate, has already garnered 13k views, 119 reactions, and 93 comments as of writing.
