With the goal of aiding Brigada Eskwela 2021 of Department of Education (DepEd) Dasmariñas, the Visual and Performing Arts Unit (VPAPU) will be launching their first-ever online art gallery for the latest franchise of OBRA titled, “OBRA 16: SWERVE.”

The registration for the said online art gallery begins today, December 4. A minimum amount of 50 pesos should be donated via online bank transfer to reserve a slot at the said exhibit.

In an exclusive interview with Green FM, VPAPU President Michaella Tamonan shared that the general theme of the exhibit was inspired by how everyone still managed to pull through amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

“We wanted to share…what the ‘new normal’ has brought us, and [to] show that with these, we still manage[d] to survive and live[d] in the era that we have today,” Tamonan stated.

To adapt to the restrictions brought up by the current pandemic, VPAPU decided to hold their art gallery in the digital landscape.

“Even though [OBRA 16: SWERVE] is online, the gallery and floor plan are still designed by us, and all of the artworks are digital and photographed,” she said.

Attendees can access the exhibit in two ways: by using the internet browser, or through downloading an application called, “Artsteps,” a web-based environment that simulates art galleries in a virtual space.

Additionally, Tamonan explained that the audience may expect to see what the organization has been feeling and wanting to say about the current situation of the country.

All proceeds of the said event will be used to donate hand-out module bags, 100-peso load cards, and school supplies for the students and teachers from public schools.

“OBRA 16: SWERVE” will be open from December 6 to January 25, 2021, every 8am to 6pm.
