The Communication Program Council (CPC) will host a fundraising talent competition for a children’s charity titled “Miracles in December” held at Tanghalan Julian Felipe (TJF) on Wednesday, December 14.

This competition is open to all bona fide students under the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program.

Half of the ticket sales will proceed to the Bukid Kabataan (BK) Shelter, an organization in General Trias, Cavite that supports and protects abused and exploited children.

This was made possible through the Council’s collaboration with the Lasallian Community Development Center, the University’s lead unit in civic engagement.

“We believe they are the perfect beneficiaries for this project. As we all know,  maraming foundations pa rin sa Pilipinas ang walang international fund and kahit papaano makatulong kami sa kanila,” said Ian Flores, chief executive of the CPC, in an interview with Green FM.

According to Flores, “Miracles in December” was originally planned as a benefit concert for the Indigenous People.

“However due to the lack of funds and logistics we decided to save the format to a fundraising talent show which we have ‘Miracles in December’ now,” he added.

The competitors for the said event have a chance to win cash prizes: ₱3,000 for the grand champion, ₱2,000 for the 1st runner-up, and ₱1,000 for the 2nd runner-up.

“We hope that it will motivate them to come up with a high standard or a good performance na mapakita ang comradery ng each block,” Flores explained.

Aside from the BK Shelter benefitting from the event, Flores said it will also be beneficial to the Communication students to enhance and train them.

“We believe it’s beneficial to us, [Communication students]. They have the freedom to conceptualize and show their talent t in whatever way they can,” he added.

The talent show accepted various talents such as acting, spoken poetry, dancing, and singing.

To avail and watch “Miracles in December” live, visit their booth at JFH Kubo from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm onwards at the TJF Entrance. Walk-in payments are also accepted.
