Program designer and master trainer Anthony Pangilinan summarizes his motivational discussion about leadership, held on April 21 via the DLSU-D University Student Government’s Facebook Live on the event titled, “Navigating Uncharted Waters: Steward Leadership Reinvented.”

Anthony Pangilinan, program designer and master trainer of Purpose Driven Life for Professionals (Philippines), advised participants to strive on becoming a different leader to serve people by choosing their own journey and strengthening their skills and talents.

“Thousands of you are lights. See yourself as a light for the people in darkness,” Pangilinan emphasized.

During the leadership training summit on April 21 titled, “Navigating Uncharted Waters: Steward Leadership Reinvented,” Pangilinan imparted pieces of advice and tips to ignite the leadership potentials among students.

“Dare to call to be different… because the majority of the people have chosen to conform… be your core best self for you to have what is meant for you,” he said regarding an individual’s own path and purpose.

Pangilinan also mentioned to always invest on strengths to further improve and at the same time, never disregard the weaknesses but to acknowledge and be honest with them.

He compared it to the student’s grades and explained, “The secret of F’s lies on the A’s [on grades]. The secret of A’s will help you in your F’s… Leverage your strengths for you to work on F’s.”

The master trainer also added to exercise good habits to achieve one’s goal as a leader.

“Work on execution—habits—not only vision. We fall down on habits, i-angat mo to get closer to your vision… if you have a bad habit, connect it with a good habit,” he reiterated.

When asked on what to do if older people do not listen to younger generations, Pangilinan highlighted, “If you are the younger one, pakitaan mo sila para sumunod sa ‘yo.”

“The more competent you are, walang choice ang mga nakatatanda. If they don’t listen, then [let them] face the consequence. [I]n that case, they have to experience the consequence[s] for them to learn,” he stressed.
