Communicode is a mini-series produced by DigiSalle in collaboration with Green FM’s third-year AB Communication students. The series is centered on addressing environmental issues and at the same time highlights the role of aspiring journalists in the Digital and Multimedia Journalism (DMJ) program in the face of environmental adversity.

Founded and run by first-year students in the Digital and Multimedia Journalism Program at De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, DigiSalle is the first digital news and entertainment website in A.Y. 2023 and 2024. It aims to deliver real-life stories especially of the marginalized sector, provide evocative literature and become a platform to reveal truth in different forms of multimedia.

Meanwhile COM31’s Green FM seeks to amplify this year’s World Press Freedom day that happened last May 3, 2024 with the theme: Journalism in the Face of Environmental Crisis. Hence they opt to utilize the radio program itself as means to incorporate both aspects of journalism and environmental matters.

Recently, Green FM collaborated with DigiSalle to produce KILATIS, a special coverage for this year’s university elections last April 30, 2024 held at Tanghalang Julian Felipe. The event was deemed successful considering its positive feedback among students and faculty, not to mention the livestream garnering a total of 15,000 views/plays, 331 reactions, and 258 comments on Facebook.

Going back, Communicode will consist of 3 seasons, with 4 episodes each; each season explores the following topics: (1) Food Waste, (2) Plastic Waste, and (3) Polluted Bodies of Water. The mini-series aims to shed light on critical environmental issues facing our community. This platform will empower aspiring journalists to become environmental advocates, sharing their insights and potential solutions to these problems. To add, the project aims to inspire listeners and viewers to take action and become part of the solution in creating a healthier environment for everyone.

Digisalle and Green FM’s Communicode is committed in bringing top-notch and quality content through “decoding” environmental sustainability with cutting-edge journalism infused with the digital competencies of both Green FM and DMJ students. Communicode above all, provides perceptive viewpoints and raised important environmental challenges to light. The partnership between DigiSalle and Green FM is an indication of the latter’s increasing dedication to environmental journalism.
