Fifty-five Lasallians from the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) will receive scholarship grants for the duration of the second semester this academic year.

As a part of the CEAT Student Government’s (CEATSG) Educational Assistance Program, selected students will receive a P12,000  deduction to their semestral tuition fees.

“Ibinabalik lang namin sa students kung ano ang ibinibigay din ng students,” CEATSG Governor Sean Punongbayan said, pertaining to collegial fees.

However, the governor was quick to clarify that the P12,000 tuition fee deduction is not fixed and may change next semester.

This is because the assistance program’s budget changes every semester which, in turn, decides how many scholarships the CEATSG can grant.

“‘Yung number of grantees and budget, nakadepende sa current government. This semester, we decided to increase the number of grantees kasi ang daming nag-apply last semester pero 20 scholars lang ang puwedeng makuha,” Punongbayan explained.

Second-year Multimedia Arts student Patrisha Somintac shared why she applied for the grant.

“Nag-apply ako kasi mostly manageable ‘yung requirements needed for the scholarship. I guess ang medyo nahirapan lang kaming kunin is yung Income Tax Return ng dad ko. But other than that, madali na i-gather yung other requirements,” she said.

“Plus, the required grade is not that demanding. 2.50 ang need na Grade Point Average (GPA) and no failing grade lang naman ang hinihingi,” she added.

The application for this semester’s assistance program closed on Wednesday, March 16.

As the next stage of the selection process, the CEATSG held a three-day interview session for the applicants last week.

“Pag nakikita namin na talagang deserving, i-coconsider namin siya, pero may scoresheet din na ginawa for this” said the CEATSG governor on their discerning process.

The CEATSG will post the names of students who will receive the scholarship grants on their official Facebook Page this week.
