After a one-year-hiatus, the University’s Communication and Journalism Department (CJD) will return its annual event titled “Communication Impact” (COMPACT) to conduct a Communication course webinar and to push online competitions related to media on Dec. 13 and 14.
With this year’s theme “Communication Impact in Social Media: The New Normal,” the COMPACT event will hold its education caravan on Dec. 13 via Zoom and Facebook Live, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, tackling the fields of Public Relations and Advertising.
The event aims to discuss these fields on how it transitioned from pre-normal to now normal, and its relevance to the industry to be explained by different guest speakers who are experts and professionals in the field.
Moreover, the caravan is open to the public to give a heads up and encourage the students to pursue careers in the field of Communication such as Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing Communication, and Journalism.
On the other hand, COMPACT will showcase different competitions with its theme “Buhay Estudyante ng DLSU-D in the New Normal,” through the use of various social media platforms to exhibit the power of new media that will be screened on Dec. 14, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
The competitions will include a fashion expo, Facebook and YouTube video contest, and Tiktok challenge that are open to college and senior high school students from the invited school partners.
On its importance of why these activities will be included in the event, COMPACT 2021 Chairperson Isolde Valera said, “[These] will help them gain knowledge on the proper utilization of this platform and inspire them to become creative and improve their techniques as far as the production of videos is concerned.”
