USG President Niña Ligan addresses Lasallians on her first State of the University Student Government Address (SUSGA) on Nov. 19 via Facebook Live on USG’s official page.

The University Student Government (USG) President of  De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) demanded explanations from the University administration and urged for a new plan of action for different concerns.

During the State of the University Student Government Address (SUSGA) on Friday, Nov. 19, USG President Niña Ligan called out the DLSU-D administration during the recent announcement on the continuation of online classes for the next semester.

“On behalf of the students, we would like to ask our dear administration for clarification and explanation [on] why can’t we have face-to-face classes for the second semester. We deserve an explanation from you,” Ligan said.

She mentioned that most of the students are worried about their competency if online classes still opt to continue for the next semester.

“How can you assure that the graduating batch of 2022 are honed, prepared, competitive, and well-equipped with the career they want to take if they are still fully online in the upcoming semester? We assumed that the practicum and [On the Job Training] of the students are online as well,” she asked for clarification.

Ligan also requested the admin if students can allow to enter the University to pay tuition fee, assuring that students are fully vaccinated and following the rules of the COVID-19 Task Force.

On the other hand, the USG President acknowledged student concerns on the self-care survey about the professors who do not follow the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Care-Centered Model for Online Learning.

“The student concerns from our student leaders, there’s only one thing that I want to ask for a favor [to the professors]… Please follow the IRR Care-Centered Model, we implemented this to have a smooth online class so we can provide quality education,” Ligan reminded.

The University will hold its next primary elections on Dec. 13 and 14 as its voting period dates, with Dec. 18 to 20 as the time of proclamation of winners.
