Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla warns possible implementation of lockdown in the province soon, as cases of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) continue to rise.
As of April 27, Cavite has recorded a total of 161 confirmed cases, in which Remulla used as a basis to “justify” a provincial lockdown.
According to Remulla, the surge of COVID-19 cases was a result of violations of residents to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) guidelines from April 6-10 and the provincial mass testing that started last April 14.
Meanwhile, the Governor also plans to impose additional military reinforcement for the stringent observance of the ECQ guidelines.
“I will confer with the Mayors later and [get] consensus on lockdown rules. I will contact the Philippine Army later for additional reinforcements,” Remulla said.
Since March 17, Cavite is placed under ECQ to control the number of positive cases in the province. It was supposed to be lifted on April 14 but was later extended until May 15 due to the national government’s order of stretching ECQ in high-risk areas, which include National Capital Region (NCR), CALABARZON, Region 3, and some provinces in Visayas and Mindanao.
