With the primary aim of extending help to medical frontliners battling the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Visual and Performing Arts Production Unit or (VPAPU) from the Performing Arts Group (PAG), continues to seek for donations of materials to produce more DIY face shields, which will be distributed to various hospitals in the country.
According to VPAPU President James Basco, they are highly aware of the current situation in medical centers, where most hospitals experience scarcity of protective gear. This became their inspiration in creating DIY face shields and donating medical necessities to various health facilities, which can serve as their protection against contracting the virus.
As of March 30, VPAPU has managed to produce 1,055 face shields, donated 5,000 surgical gloves, and 116 liters of alcohol in 8 medical facilities.
Hospitals that have already received donations include Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas, De La Salle University Medical Center, Cavite Center for Mental Heath Trece, Ospital ng Maynila, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Research Institute of Tropical Medicine and Metro-North Radiology Department.
The project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the organization’s members, alumni, sponsors, and volunteers.
