As the exam week sweeps in just before the Christmas break, Caratreats Cafe, located in Dasmariñas, Cavite and known as the first ever K-Pop boy group SEVENTEEN-inspired cafe in the Philippines, launches a study night activity titled, “Study Night with Caratreats.” The event aims to create a motivating space where students, majorly the working students and student leaders can build connections and meet “study buddies” that would allow them to experience a sense of community.

Being the study night as the first activity on its newly launched Discord community called the Caratreats Hub, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) student and Caratreats owner Samantha Garcia shared her initiatives on why she thought organizing it would be helpful for students.

“I think that us students have our own ways of coping and finding ways to make studying even more fun and exciting than it already is. [F]or me, [I] find that the way to fully immerse myself into that kind of experience is by being with friends who share the same interests and values. “ She explained.

Furthermore, recognizing the challenges posed by conflicting schedules of students in face-to-face setups, Garcia opted to consume the efficiency of technology and chose to organize online study sessions for the convenience and comfort of everyone.

Reflecting on the success of her business, the young entrepreneur shared her hopes about the study night’s impact to the students stating, “It still shocks me to this day how big the Carat community (SEVENTEEN fans) is in Cavite alone, and [I]’m sure participants of this study night will get to meet so many people one way or another…I hope that even after study nights, Caratreats Cafe can serve as everyone’s [safe space] and haven they can run to whenever they need it or simply when they want a friend to be with,”

In addition, Garcia ended her message leaving advice to aspiring working students and young entrepreneurs like her saying, “It’s never easy [I]’ll tell you that. But, the secret [to] keep that light burning inside of you is to surround yourself with people who will bring out the best in you and see your potential…”

The study night session starts today, December 21 starting at 8 p.m. and is open to all Caratreats customers who are students, particularly those from DLSU-D. To further support the student community, Caratreats is offering exclusive discounts for students, working students, and student leaders.
