The De La Salle University-Dasmariñas Chorale is hosting a concert tomorrow, December 2, at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel. Two performances are scheduled on the same day from 2:30 – 4:00 PM and 6:30 – 8:00 PM.
Titled “Luwalhati: PASKOncert 2023,” the event is another successor to the Chorale’s withstanding tradition of holding annual Christmas concerts, familiarizing themselves with the Lasallian community following years of events under online restrictions whilst simultaneously commemorating the organization’s shared fondness for music.
The event’s Project Head Karl Angelo Portollano stated that this is their second year of performing in person since the pandemic, emphasizing its importance to the Chorale as a teaser for their highly anticipated performance in Taiwan next year.
“…We are currently preparing for an international choral competition (Taipei International Choral Festival),” Portollano remarked. “We already started preparing for the competition pieces since September, and we are looking forward in showcasing it on the event this Saturday to give everyone a tease of what we will show in the international stage.”
According to the event’s Marketing Head Irish Jade Ordoñez, the concert seeks to spread joy throughout the Lasallian community, inviting three guest choirs and welcoming Christmas through angelic and harmonious music.
“Actually, we made a lot of preparations para masiguradong smooth sailing ang event namin,” Ordoñez said.
She emphasized the importance of strengthening bonds within the community, even offering bonuses to those who are willing to partake in the event alongside the DLSU-D Chorale. “Isipin mo ‘yun,” she continued, “may incentive and discount na nga sila, tapos nakaka-enjoy pa ‘yung [gagawin nila] which is manood ng concert!”
Furthermore, Portollano commented on what one must expect as an attendee of this year’s PASKOncert.
“We have prepared a number of Christmas songs where everyone can sing along with us, and we also have special guests that will perform with us on this special occasion,” he said.
Online and onsite ticket selling and registrations for PASKOncert began on the 5th of November.
There will also be incentives given to all attendees who are currently taking D-REED, as well as students from the following colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Communication (CLAC), the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT), and the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE).
Similarly, Portollano issued an invite: “Come and join us as we celebrate the Christmas season through choral music with DLSU-D Chorale! We hope you will enjoy what we have in store this year and keep supporting us in our journey,”
“And of course, thank you rin in advance for supporting DLSU-D Chorale sa aming event. Malaking help ito para sa aming upcoming international competition next year sa Taiwan. We promise na ire-represent namin ang DLSU-D at Pilipinas with our hearts and souls. Kaya, see you at Luwalhati: PASKOncert 2023!,” came Ordoñez’ final message to all attendees.
The DLSU-D Chorale, founded in 1988, is a gathering of students from all colleges partaking in their passion for the performing arts and choral music. Currently under Mr. John Angelo Diamos’ tutelage, they enter competitions and perform in concerts to instill their love for song within the Lasallian community.
